10 Insane Upcoming Movie Castings You Won't Believe
7. Kevin Spacey As Cardinal Cesareani – Gateway To The West (Release Date TBC)
Since the accusations of sexual harassment against Kevin Spacey came to light in 2017, the actor hasn't really shown his face in Hollywood. Other than his bizarre homemade videos - which saw him portraying his House of Cards character, Frank Underwood professing his innocence - he's been rather quiet on the acting front.
But recently it was confirmed that Spacey - who is still going through legal proceedings surrounding the allegations - will appear in 1242, a historical epic concerning the grandson of Genghis Khan and his planned invasion Europe.
Although a grand epic about one of the most fearsome and influential empires in history is sure to get folks excited, the inclusion of Spacey will not doubt turn people off. He's set to play Cardinal Cesareani, a confidant of the Pope, and the man who will attempt to stop the Mongol invasion.
It's an odd move to cast a man accused of making sexual advances on a 14-year-old boy, as a member of an institution famed for its sordid history with child abuse: the Catholic Church. Then again, the film industry isn't known for its strong moral compass.
