10 Insanely Dark Marvel Moments That Will Never Make It To Film

1. The Rape Of Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel Rape
Marvel Comics

The act of rape is one of the most despicable things that can be done to a person. As such, if it was to be tackled in the medium of comic books then surely it would be a big deal, right? Right?!

With Carol Danvers portrayed as one of the strongest female characters in comics by the end of the 1970s, then came the horrible actions of Avengers #200 in which Ms. Marvel mysteriously became pregnant. Even more mysterious was the fact that she gave birth a mere 3 days later to a child who grew into a full-grown man almost immediately.

The baby was known as Marcus, but it was soon revealed by the child that he had gone back in time to impregnate his own mother. Further to this, it was revealed that he’d brainwashed Carol to have sex with him, essentially raping her.

After this, Ms. Marvel bizarrely stayed with Marcus and even supposedly enjoyed the whole thing, all whilst her Avengers cohorts casually played down the situation and made light of such a horrific act. All in all, every character involved in this story arc came out of it looking horrendous.

Luckily for Ms. Marvel, Chris Claremont would go some way to salvaging the situation a year later when he had Carol chastise The Avengers for their lacklustre reaction to her being raped.
