10 Insanely Hyped Movies That Flopped HARD

7. King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword

There are worse places to look for blockbuster movie inspiration than Arthurian legend, and considering their lead actor was Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam, Warner Bros had reason to be upbeat about King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword.

The studio really threw its weight behind the Guy Ritchie project and made no secret of its franchise ambitions. If the thought of an Arthurian cinematic universe in the vein of the MCU is the kind of thing that makes you recoil in disgust, fear not, as the box office performance of this one killed those sequel plans dead.

Between its scathing reviews and an opening weekend in the US that saw it make just $15 million, King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword wasn't the resounding success Warner was banking on. You know your movie was an absolute turkey when the thing it is remembered best for is a terrible performance from David Beckham.
