8. Gremlins

The Howling Speaking of The Howling, Steven Spielberg was so impressed with the horror classic that he chose director Joe Dante to helm Gremlins, on which he himself was the executive producer. In Gremlins, we can clearly see a smiley-faced sticker on the door of Billy's refrigerator. This is actually a reference to The Howling, when the main werewolf/bad guy Eddie Quist left smiley-faced stickers as his calling card while reporter Karen White was tracking him. Were those poor, unsuspecting citizens of Kingston Falls also being stalked by a werewolf? And you thought the microwaved Gremlin scene was gruesome...
