10 Inspiring Documentaries That Could Change Your Life
6. Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows
There have been dismal wrestling documentaries – including, The Rise and Fall of WCW – which was essentially a propaganda piece orchestrated by their closest competitors. That said, the stories of professional wrestlers can be genuinely inspiring when given appropriate treatment, which is why wrestling podcasts have become so popular in recent years.
With that being said, Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows is undoubtedly inspiring, documenting the professional wrestler’s final year in the company. Interestingly, the documentary explores the events leading up to Survivor Series ’97 which saw Bret Hart involuntarily relinquish his WWF championship to his bitter rival, Shawn Michaels – an infamous event which would later be referred to as the ‘Montreal screwjob’.
More importantly however, Wrestling with Shadows explores the nature of stardom and the impact of professional wrestling on a person’s personal life, including their relationship with their family and friends.
