The other big question thats never really addressed in the appropriate manner is where that wormhole appeared from. Wormholes dont tend to just appear for no reason. Anne Hathaways Doctor Brand posits that they put it there, again referring to the fifth dimensional beings who appear to have been guiding the underground NASA ever since their inception. Still, whoever these all powerful beings all, surely they dont have the ability to tear holes in the time-space continuum like that, do they? Or do they? Well, the reveal that the fifth dimensional beings are actually humans who have managed to transcend our accepted three dimensional living space just throws up even more questions. How did a bunch of regular people mucking about in the tesseract pull that off? One explanation is that the wormhole was sent back not from the future, but an alternate reality. In one universe, humanity was doomed, and there was no way of fixing it. Rather selflessly, they tore a hole in the fabric of the galaxy itself so that an alternate universe - the one depicted in the film - could have a chance when they didnt. As if Interstellar wasn't mind-melting enough as it is...
