Played by the ever brilliant Sharlto Copley, Kruger somewhat inevitably stole the show in Neil Blomkamp's sci-fi tale of haves and have nots, Elysium. A psychopathic mercenary under the command of the Elysian Secretary of Defence Jessica Delacourt, he shows no qualms in murdering innocents and seems to revel in causing pain. What could have easily been a one-note performance is raised in quality by Copley's performance and while you never really feel any empathy towards Kruger he's certainly a magnetic presence on screen. Using genetic implants and his trademark katana to get the job done, you really wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of Kruger or those that employ him. He commits numerous atrocities throughout the film such as shooting down transport ships filled with helpless civilians and murdering the majority of Elysium's political leaders. He's a mad dog in desperate need of being put down. In the end it's reckless ambition that gets the better of him as he is killed while trying to install himself as the new president of Elysium.
