10 James Bond Fates Worse Than Death
7. Dehydration In The Desert - Dominic Greene (Quantum Of Solace)
One of the few lead villains not to be killed onscreen, Mathieu Amalric's sinister billionaire philanthropist Dominic Greene was presented with an arguably far worse fate than a simple bullet from Bond. After thwarting Greene's plot to gain control of natural worldwide resources, Bond captures him and drives him into the middle of the Atacama Desert, that Greene himself has bought. He then hands the wounded villain a can of motor oil, speculating that he will make it 20 miles before he becomes so dehydrated that he resorts to drinking it.
M later reveals to Bond that Greene has been found in the desert with 2 bullets in the base of his skull, implying that he was ultimately executed at the hands of shadowy criminal organisation Quantum.
However, in addition to this, he was found to have motor oil in his stomach, confirming that he survived long enough to reach such excruciating levels of dehydration that he did indeed drink it. The arrival of Quantum operatives to execute him must by that point have felt like a mercy to Greene - a stomach full of motor oil and impending starvation would surely be enough to make one wish for death.
