10 Jaw-Dropping Movie Monsters We All Loved To Watch
6. Kong - King Kong (2005)
Now I know what you're going to say here, so hear me out before you declare me to be a heathen for daring to believe that the remake of a classic was better than the original. Peter Jackson's version of King Kong was most certainly long-winded, and did indeed waffle on far too long about things we didn't really care about, but there definitely was something that it did better than the original, and that's thanks to the CGI available at the time. That one thing is of course the eponymous giant gorilla. The very appearance of Kong was a pinnacle in the achievements of CGI technology in movies to that date. Pair that up with the stop motion acting of the ever superb Andy Serkis and you're left with one of the most realistic monsters seen on screen. Even though it's an enormous monkey. Whenever our big furry hero was on screen, the audience was compelled to shuffle to the edge of their seats, just to get a closer look at the wondrous creation before them. Whilst the original was iconic in terms of the history of cinema, the 2005 version is flawless in appearance; a truly convincing monster, not a man in a chimp suit.
