10 Key Changes We Wish Recent Movies Had Made

7. Show The Romance - Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

For all of the complaints levelled at the second Fantastic Beasts movie (many of which were entirely off-base), there was a pretty big issue with it that was all of JK Rowling's own making. Her insistence on the romantic relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald had painted the Fantastic Beasts screenwriters into a corner, when they demonstrably didn't want the story to be dominated that way.... Or at least not yet.

Funny thing is, though, those screenwriters were JK Rowling herself. She could and should have been brave enough to explore the true nature of the relationship, because she'd been "brave" enough to out them when it suited her in the aftermath of the Potter novels' release. If you hang that sort of thing over a story and make it very obvious how important it is and yet how incidental it SHOULD have been for your politicised motives, then why not explore it properly?

Not showing it for what it was hurt the film in a completely unnecessary way.
