10 Lame Characters That Ruined Otherwise Awesome Films

6. Chi Fu (Mulan)

Disney have a history of including lame characters simply for the purpose of aggravating children - take Zazu for instance - but I€™ve always had a special spot in my tiny, crusty heart for the character of Chi Fu. It isn€™t just the fact that Chi Fu is a wimp and a misery-guts €“ it€™s because the character of Chi Fu is a racist stereotype. Think about it: the over-pronounced teeth, the extra thin facial hair, the wide nose... And then there€™s the fact that his high pitched nasally voice and pandering demeanor come straight out of a 1940s comedian€™s handbook on how to pretend to be €˜Asian€™. Really, Disney? You have a character voiced by Eddie Murphy, and he€™s not the worst one in the ensemble? Chi Fu makes watching Mulan uncomfortable for me not only because of his persona, but because of the more insidious things his appearance personifies.
