10 Most Laughable Monster Movies

10. Mansquito (The Mosquito Man)

In all honesty, Mansquito is definitely not the worst monster ever created, nor is it unwatchable, but looms very close to the title. Taking cue from "The Fly", this flick tries to create the same atmosphere by being gritty, messy, bloody and... strangely phallic. If you watch the movie you'll see what I'm talking about. While there are some good effects (with notable lack of CGI), the rest of the movie is in line with the rest of what the SyFy channel has to offer. It's the classical monster origin story, just sped up about ten times faster. There's some radioactivity, a killer virus, an inmate that is selected for an experiment, a gruff detective... you can see where this is going. There is just nothing new that could bring this movie up above the badness. The monster - while pretty brutal - doesn't look scary, but too bulky to be a human/mosquito hybrid. It doesn't even grow wings until about three quarters of the movie; making us ask ourselves just how did this thing remain unseen. Hundreds of people die during the story, all incapable of surviving direct contact with an oversized bug. Truth be told, the damn thing is strangely invulnerable to pretty much everything. Another interesting detail worth noting is that the story is set in modern day New York, while the movie was shot somewhere in Bulgaria. No difference there, right?
