10. Jaws 2 (1978)

The natural question that any cinema fan will probably ask when confronted with the existence of
Jaws 2, is: "
Another shark?" But how could they not make a sequel to the most successful movie of all time? The fact that another shark attacks the same beach, and the same police chief has to deal with the same problem all over again is... awkward, to say the least. It even threatens to derail the integrity of the original movie. It's good that
Jaws 2 isn't a massive diaster, then, nor is it bad enough to have you looking back at Spielberg's original with any less love. Viewed separately, it's a pretty good creature feature, and one that would have probably found itself as a cult classic of sorts, had the original never existed. Yes, it's about Chief Brody dealing with a second shark, and yes, the community are against him (that's the most ridiculous aspect, perhaps), but director Jeannot Szwarc emulates Spielberg's style rather well, and there are some admirably dark moments.
