10 Lazy Movie Sequels That Had The Same Plots As The Originals

7. Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992)

MSDHOAL FE016

Given the premise of the first Home Alone movie, you'd assume that the parents of young Kevin McCallister would ensure to keep two eyes on their child for as long as he lives. Leaving your kid behind once is bad parenting, but twice... that's a good enough reason to alert social services, surely? Still, Home Alone 2: Lost In New York kind of gets away with its re-hashed plot because it's so darn likeable. It's genuinely hard to stay mad. The fact that it's a comedy movie, too, which makes this kind of thing more forgivable, works in its favour. Still, I'm not buying into the fact that Kevin's parents would leave him stranded again - his presence would be the first thing on my mind, no matter how late I was for a plane. The action here is transfered from the McCallister home to the big city, which is - at least - a logical step. For sequels, "bigger is better," right? And this one just scrapes by on that notion.
