10 Least Accurate Movie Portrayals Of Comic Book Characters Ever
1. Catwoman
Perhaps being one of, if not the worst superhero film of all-time, Catwoman is plagued with awful dialogue, hilariously bad action scenes and mind-bendingly poor characterisation, all wrapped into a contrived and inconceivably poor plot.
The 2004 film changes virtually everything about the character. Selina Kyle is now Patience Phillips, she is given special feline powers from Egyptian cats rather than simply being a master in acrobatics and hand-to-hand combat, and her entire motivation into becoming Catwoman is to avenge her own death after she stumbled across a dangerous conspiracy from a cosmetics company, instead of thriving on the highs of burglary.
As expected, Catwoman was met with abysmal critical reviews and left audiences bewildered by what they watched. The character regrettably had to wait another eight years for a decent live-action portrayal; that being Anne Hathaway's Catwoman in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises.
Still, the Catwoman film has a special place in the heart of star Halle Berry. At the Matrix Awards in 2018, Berry said, "While it failed to most people, it wasn't a failure for me because I met so many interesting people that I wouldn't have met otherwise, I learned two forms of martial arts and I learned not what to do."
