10 Least Accurate Movie Portrayals Of Comic Book Characters Ever

After two fantastic films, it was shocking to see that the third and final entry into Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy wasn't great, with the main factor being its lacklustre villains.

Venom is meant to be the Web-head's terrifying, hulking doppelgänger, though Spider-Man 3 does a very poor job of illustrating this. Instead, the Symbiote's host, Eddie Brock, is a timid reporter who initially doesn't want to confront his rival Peter Parker, and Venom's rather short stature makes it difficult for the audience to be fearful of him.

When asked about the character by Uproxx, director Raimi said, "It was really more just that I didn’t understand the character that well. It wasn’t close to my heart."

The filmmaker also lamented Sony's involvement in Spider-Man 3's script, and the studio forcing him to include a character he was less than enthusiastic about. As Raimi noted, "When I read about Venom, which I hadn’t read as a kid, I had to catch up on it when they wanted him to be in the movie. I didn’t recognize enough humanity within that character to be able to identify with him properly. That’s really what it boils down to."
