10 Least Terrifying Villains In Horror Movie History
1. Trees - The Happening
There really could be no other choice for the top of this list, with the most woefully misguided, ill conceived villain in the history of Horror movies. Poor old M. Night Shyamalan lost his mojo real quick, but whereas some may make a case that The Village and Lady in The Water at least had a few good scares from its central villains, there is no case to be made here.
For those of you fortunate enough to have missed this turkey, The Happening is about an unexplained event that sees people commit suicide. With the population of the US rapidly dropping, our protagonist discovers that the villain is (wait for it) trees, that for some reason are omitting a poison that is wiping out mankind.
Poor old Shyamalan tries to make the trees seem menacing through a number of long shots of the forest, but it only makes you grimace at the shocking concept. Anytime the dramatic music tries to amp up the tension as the wind lightly brushes the leaves in the near vicinity is laugh out loud awful.
