8. Danny Archer Has HIV - Blood Diamond

The Theory: The movie's protagonist, Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), has been infected with HIV since before the movie began. Why It Might Be True: A Redditor posed some pretty compelling evidence: most prominently, near the start of the film he's solicited by a prostitute who says "No HIV", to which he replies, "Ja, ja, I've heard that one before." In addition, Danny keeps a certain distance from romantic interest Maddy (Jennifer Connelly), he didn't want Solomon (Djimon Hounsou) to carry him after he had been shot (due to potential blood contamination?) and perhaps the whole reason he was so desperate to get the blood diamond was to help pay for treatment.
