1. Happy Accidents (2000)
This romantic comedy uses a slight science-fiction touch to create an unforgettable love story. It is also one of the best time travel movies ever made, even though it only takes place in present day New York City. Ruby (Marisa Tomei) is always meeting guys with serious personal flaws. Ruby wants to fix them, but inevitably fails, leaving her heartbroken. That is until she meets Sam Deed (Vincent D'Onofrio) who is immediately enamored with her. He is sweet, funny and just about perfect except for his quirks like being terrified of small dogs, speaking five languages and claiming he's from 500 years in the future. Is Sam insane or really a time traveler? The story offers two very solid plot lines an intriguing sci-fi mystery and an endearing love story. What really makes this movie unforgettable is the acting by Vincent D'Onoforio and Marissa Tomei. D'Onofrio is completely committed to the role of Sam and no one plays sweet like Tomei. They take Brad Anderson's script and take it to a smart level. A great movie for science-fiction geeks, wannabe time-travelers and people who love love-stories.
