2. Wristcutters: A Love Story
Wristcutters is a movie where no one smiles and everyone is dead because they killed themselves. Fantastic set up for a romantic comedy, huh? The film is set in an afterlife that is specialized for people who have committed suicide. People have jobs and everything is like life on earth, just a bit worse. Zia (Patrick Fugit) has committed suicide and living in this afterlife, when he discovers his girlfriend committed suicide about a month after him. He sets out with his friend Eugene (Shea Whigham) on the road to find her. Along the way they meet Mikal (Shannyn Sossamon) who is looking for the people in charge. It's one of those movies that always has a touch of sadness, but those touches make the spots of happiness that much better. Relationships aren't always joyous, sometimes they are sad, but making a connection with a person is still special, no matter where you are.
