10 Lessons The Live Action Avatar Series Could Learn From The 2010 Film

5. Involve The Original Creators

This might have been the one issue that lead to the project falling apart. The first domino to be pushed, if you will. Creators Michael Dante DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, and writer Aaron Ehasz weren't involved in the film - at all. In fact, M. Night Shyamalan wrote, directed and co-produced the whole thing. It's a bold move, sure, but with hindsight it's clear he could've done with some help.

However, it's been confirmed that the original creators will return to be the new series' show-runners. With these guys involved, hopefully we'll see the soul of the original will shine through.

On another note, perhaps some interaction with the fandom would be a good idea. The older fans who saw it when it first aired, and the newer generation who found it through Netflix. If anyone can tell you why a series shines, it's the fans. Even with his daughter supposedly loving the series (she dressed as Katara for Holloween), Shyamalan evidently didn't do this.
