2. Wonder Woman Is A Supporting Character - Shazam! Fury Of The Gods

It's no secret that the marketing for Shazam! Fury of the Gods failed to make much of a dent beyond the DC faithful. It just struggled to present the film as a fun, worthy successor to the entertaining original, resulting in it being projected to bomb at the box office in the weeks leading up to its release.

But mere days before it hit screens, a panicking Warner Bros. decided to air a new TV spot which revealed a seemingly gigantic spoiler - Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) is a supporting character in the movie.

Many decried Warner Bros. for being so desperate to put butts in seats that they ruined such a huge surprise, yet the studio's conduct here became even more questionable once the film was out in the wild.

As it turns out, Gal Gadot is in the Shazam sequel for a single, two-minute scene, where she clearly shot her role separately from the other actors, resulting in the limited interactions between Wonder Woman and the Shazam Family coming off as distracting stilted and disconnected.

Anyone who made a last-minute decision to go see Shazam! Fury of the Gods in the hope that it'd actually connect to the wider DCEU - waning though it is - in a major way was surely left crestfallen when it merely amounted to a tacked-on Gal Gadot cameo that felt like it was filmed a few weeks ago.

As for Shazam 2's box office? Wonder Woman evidently did little to move the needle, as it sank like a stone in its opening weekend regardless.
