10. Matthew McConaughey: Spider Jerusalem
Unfortunately the boat has now sailed on the comic book role that McConaughey was truly born to play: Preachers Jesse Custer. Theres just no getting away from the fact he is too old now but if there was a way of transporting the McConaughey of a decade ago from rom-com hell to his current zenith, then there could be no better fit for the hard drinking Texan preacher who possesses the word of God. One role he is age appropriate for is everyones favourite cyber-gonzo journalist Spider Jerusalem from Warren Elliss long in development-hell Transmetropolitan. News has been slow on the Transmet front in recent years but attaching an actor who currently enjoys McConaugheys popularity would be a sure-fire way of getting a green-light. Spider fits McConaugheys profile in so many ways, one only has to imagine his True Detective role as Rust Cohle crossed with the energy he displayed in roles such as Killer Joe to see he would be a perfect fit for the 3D glasses and tribal tattoos.
