10 Little Known Avengers Who Could Make Marvel Millions

Fantasy Casting: Gerard Butler

Dane Whitman is the only one of the various Black Knight characters to have been an Avenger, so he has to be the one to get the nod here.

He’s a descendant of the first Black Knight, and a nephew of the villainous second, taking up the title and sword to restore honour to the title. There probably isn’t enough time to establish this history on screen unless it’s tweaked significantly, but beyond that there’s certainly a place for him.

With his mystical sword, loyal steed, armour and cape, his design is heavily inspired by medieval knights of England, although the character himself is American. A Scarlet Witch style redesign is likely needed to ground him in the MCU, but there’s definitely something to work with.

Something in the shape of Ragnarok, Guardians or Ant-Man, taking itself less seriously and letting the natural ridiculousness of the character shine through would be perfect. An overly serious The Dark World approach could be a death knell though.

Gerard Butler’s innate gruffness is an excellent fit for the the character, and he has plenty of experience in action movies; he’s a safe bet.
