10 Long-Awaited Film Adaptations Which Can't Get Off The Ground

7. Black Panther

Marvel is apparently still making a film about one of the first black superheroes in mainstream comics, but then the Black Panther adaptation has been in the works since 1992, so that's not particularly reassuring. Wesley Snipes was involved in the talks in the early 1990s and his name was attached to every incarnation of the project until around 2003, but aside from a blink-and-you'll-miss-it shout-out in Iron Man 2, Black Panther has since fallen by the wayside. The Marvel Cinematic Universe could really use some diversity, especially since five out of six of its original Avengers were straight white men. It helps that Black Panther is a superhuman tactical genius with access to some of the most advanced technology on the planet and he's also a king. Lack of material is certainly no excuse, Marvel.
