3. Hulk Smash! - Hulk
It's hard to say whether or not Ang Lee's more tender and existential take on Marvel's big green anti-hero is a good movie or not, so in the end it's probably to just say that it's an okay one. And whereas the talk-orientated parts of the flick are well done and interesting enough, what we were all really looking forward to seeing - and had been for a long, long time - was the Hulk's transformation and subsequent rampage the first time Bruce Banner ends up making the switch. I think we can all agree that it left us a little more than disappointed. It's not that it was particularly bad, but Ang Lee's sensitive approach to the material, coupled with some questionable CGI and action scenes that failed to make much of an impact, left this interpretation of a Hulk transformation feeling a little bit stale. And the way that the Hulk's jumping powers here, with him boing-ing around the desert like a tennis ball, felt oddly laughable. When you consider that some people had been waiting their whole lives for this adaptation, it's not hard to see why this particular moment (and the whole movie, in fact) missed the mark.
