10 Long-Awaited Movie Moments That Failed To Live Up To The Hype

4. Bane Fight - The Dark Knight Rises

Dark Knight Rises

Although it certainly feels akin to flogging a dead horse when it comes to bashing this movie, I can't betray my personal feelings that this should make the cut - and I've even got a feeling that fans of the third Dark Knight movie might even agree with me. Fact is, we didn't get a good Batman vs. Bane fight, which was pretty much the only thing that we definitely wanted to see in this movie. Sure, director Christopher Nolan pits these foes against one another a couple of times across the runtime, but neither occassion proved itself to all that memorable. Take the first fight, for example, where Catwoman leads Batman down into the sewers and he's trapped and attacked by Bane. The premise here is really terrifying, given how strong Bane is and how out of shape Batman has become, but Nolan once again proves he's not a great action director by reducing this to a series of boring mid-shots. Even the shot where Bane breaks Batman's back seems lackluster and weird: why that shot? Their second encounter, towards the end of the flick, is even worse - uninspired and not exciting to watch at all. I can't help but feel like there was a huge opportunity for a gritty, realistic fight scene here, ala Oldboy or something.
