10 Long-Awaited Movie Sequels That Will Literally Never Get Made
1. Man Of Steel 2
Zack Snyder's Man of Steel may have been the seed from which the entire DC Extended Universe rapidly grew, but it seems as though the studio have little intention of giving Superman his own standalone sequel, especially with the franchise in the midst of a creative reboot.
In the rush to get to Justice League as quickly as possible, the Big Blue Boy Scout found himself sidelined and reduced to a bit-part player in the universe he'd established, and the continued uncertainty surrounding Henry Cavill's time under the cape make the chances of a Man of Steel sequel remote at best.
A follow-up was officially announced to be in development in the summer of 2016, with both Matthew Vaughn and Christopher McQuarrie being linked to the director's chair, before Vaughn dropped out of negotiations and McQuarrie revealed that Warner Bros. had flat-out rejected his pitch.
The DCEU seems intent to move forward with their renewed vision for the superhero series, and yet Man of Steel 2 doesn't even seem to be on their list of priorities, which makes it increasingly likely that when we see Superman on the big screen again, he'll have gone down The Batman route and been re-cast and rebooted.
