10 Long-Awaited Movie Sequels That Will Literally Never Get Made

8. Crank 3

The Crank movies aren't for everyone, which your writer can confirm having witnessed multiple people walk out of the theater during an early screening of sequel High Voltage, but the fact that directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor still haven't been given the opportunity to finish their planned trilogy still haunts fans of Jason Statham's demented Chev Chelios to this day.

The franchise has some big supporters in Hollywood including Seth Rogen, Simon Pegg, James McAvoy, Edgar Wright and The Raid's Gareth Evans, but despite earning over $75m at the box office against $32m in production costs and then bringing in almost the same revenue from home video sales as the two Crank movies instantly attained cult status, a third installment looks like it will never happen.

Statham has been vocal in his desire to return, and the actor's bankability is at an all-time high having recently headlined The Meg and Hobbs & Shaw, but co-director Taylor admitted that the kind of absurd and boundary-pushing action that would be expected of Crank 3 means that no studio would be willing to take a chance on financing something that could end up facing a lot of backlash in today's sensitive climate.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
