Probability? 4/10 Back before The Force Awakens even publicly had a name, we knew that Disney had made an approach to bring back Wedge Antilles. That suggests they have (or had) plans to bring him back, and though the IMDB cast-list seems curiously Antilles free, that doesn't necessarily mean anything. It probably won't Denis Lawson, no matter what. Speaking at a screening of The Machine in 2014, Lawson said "they asked me but it just would have bored me." According to Badass Digest, Lawson suggested he might have returned if the role was increased in scope, but ultimately rejected the offer. Clearly the role - as originally intended - was meagre. But crucially, the character will now either need to be retrospectively written out (killed off pre-opening credits, in other words), or he's going to have to be replaced. Knowing he was originally intended to be involved means fans have expectations and the film has a duty to answer.
