10. Joker Was Almost Haunting Your Nightmares

The Dark Knight gave us an absolutely fantastic version of the Joker - as portrayed by the brilliant late Heath Ledger. He was unstable but far more realistic than the cartoonish version often portrayed in the comics and it worked wonderfully - but it could have been very, very different. Concept art from a book called "The Art of the Dark Knight" shows how the unpredictable Batman rogue could have looked - and it's pretty damn terrifying. This much darker version is like a cross between the horror villains Michael Myers and Leatherface and would probably have terrified the life out of the younger viewers of the movie - it's probably for the best that it never came to life.
