10 Major Concerns About Upcoming Movies

2. There Won't Be A Clear Winner - Godzilla Vs. Kong

If there's any one constant of "versus" movies, it's generally that there isn't a clear winner, and typically these films will end with the two headlining entities teaming up to battle a bigger villainous threat.

Though the recent debut trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong does a great job selling the insane spectacle of the two iconic Titans throwing down, it doesn't persuade that this thing is going to have a definitive, clear-cut outcome.

Despite the trailer claiming "one will fall" and director Adam Wingard insisting that his film will indeed have a sure-fire winner, this honestly just feels like marketing guff to rustle up interest, because rights-holders of name IPs are rarely willing to let their guy take the decisive loss.

It's perhaps more plausible that one of the two Titans will "fall" not by the other's hand, but sacrificing themselves in a climactic fight against the real villain - widely rumoured to be Mechagodzilla - yet in a way where their fate is left ambiguous for a potential return.

As refreshing as it'd be to see either Godzilla or Kong given a concrete death, especially with Legendary's MonsterVerse struggling to take flight, it's far more likely they take the coward's way out and leave the door at least vaguely open for more movies in this universe.
