10 Major Issues Surrounding The Justice League Movie

10. There Has Already Been A Failed Justice League Movie

DC and Warner Bros. have been desperate to get a Justice League movie off the ground for years now, and came mighty close a few years back. In early 2007, Kieran and Michele Mulroney were hired to write, with Mad Max and Happy Feet director George Miller behind the camera. Budgeted at a hefty $220m, the production headed to Miller's native Australia where the bulk of shooting was due to take place. Weta had begun pre-visualisation and costume tests, while the Justice League itself was fully cast. Armie Hammer, DJ Cotrona, Adam Brody, Megan Gale and Common were cast as Batman, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern respectively, with Aquaman and Martian Manhunter also part of the team and Jay Baruchel as the villain. However, with the cast in Australia prepping for the shoot the movie was abruptly cancelled. Studio executives were nervous over a movie featuring lesser-known actors taking place outside of the established movie continuity with a budget that had spiralled to $300m. Which is fair enough, really. Last year, the script for Justice League: Mortal leaked online and it certainly makes for an interesting read. Not necessarily a good read, but an interesting one nonetheless. Last time out a combination of low interest, a huge budget, an unknown cast and the writer's strike curtailed the Justice League movie. This time, all of the pieces seem to be falling into place but with Zack Snyder's version likely to be just as expensive and ambitious, hopefully they manage a better script.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
