The Terminator franchise is no stranger to disappointing sequels having delivered four in a row since James Cameron's Judgement Day back in 1991, and while there's strong evidence that Genisys was well already beyond saving, the two lead roles being woefully miscast didn't help matters.

Previous installment Salvation was far from a good movie, but Anton Yelchin's Kyle Reese was one of the undoubted highlights. Successor Jai Courtney failed miserably following in those footsteps, doing himself no favors when it came to his reputation as a charisma vacuum that sucks all the energy out of any movie cursed by his mere presence.

Linda Hamilton made Sarah Connor an icon and a legendary action heroine, but Emilia Clarke's performance sets the character back two decades, and when you put her and Courtney together in the same scene you end up with pale imitations of classic characters reduced to stock personality traits that fans recognize without an ounce of chemistry, emotion or believability about them.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
