When all of the other First Order Stormtroopers have white armor and stand at an average height, and you have one trooper who is decked out in platinum armor and stands above the rest at 1.91 meters, this is a character worth noting. Unfortunately, Captain Phasmas role in The Force Awakens is reminiscent of Boba Fetts in Return of the Jedi: here is a cool-looking character with potential that succumbs to a simple folly. Boba Fett accidentally falls into the Sarlaac Pit and Phasma is overtaken by Han, Finn, and Chewie. Her character is marred even further when she drops the shields to the Starkiller Base without any fight. The guys simply keep a gun trained on her and ask her to comply. Gwendoline Christie is listed as a cast member for Episode VIII, so its safe to assume she flees the rapidly imploding Starkiller Base somehow. Perhaps being sentenced to the trash compactor saves her somehow. However, her game needs to improve. Seeing her at the forefront of any First Order battle will help establish her battle skills. Maybe she will even follow Kylo Ren's lead and execute a main character. Whatever she does, she needs to succeed. Any further failures will typify her as a character not worth investing in, which would really be a shame. The potential is there. We just need to see it.
