10 Major Problems With Zack Snyder’s Justice League
6. The Mother Boxes Are Awakened By Superman’s Death
In the original version of Justice League, Superman’s death plunges the whole world into fear, thus awakening the Mother Boxes who call out to Steppenwolf and triggering the events of the film. In the Snyder Cut, there is a different reason for why the Mother Boxes awaken, which brings with it its own problems.
It is revealed that as Superman dies at the hands of Doomsday, he lets out a scream that travels the world and awakens the Mother Boxes. The Justice League concluded that the Mother Boxes must have feared Superman and saw his death as the perfect chance to call to Steppenwolf and conquer Earth.
This raises questions as to how the Mother Boxes knew a Kryptonian on Earth would be a problem against Steppenwolf, how they knew Superman was on Earth in the first place and how they knew he was dead. It also raises questions as to why they never called out to Steppenwolf in the centuries prior to Superman’s arrival on Earth.
So what seems to be a small change in the film actually ends up becoming an unnecessary one that creates more plot holes in the film's story.
