9. Is Rey A Solo Or Skywalker?
Throughout the first half of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there are definitely what appear to be some pretty strong hints that Han Solo and General Leia might be Rey's parents. If those are there (and not just my imagination), the second half seems to move away from the notion, though with such a huge amount of emphasis put on Rey's past, it's now hard to believe that she'll end up just being some nobody. With that in mind, if you were wondering why Kylo Ren appeared to be so interested in the girl helping Finn and even willing to unmask in front of her, the novelisation might just explain that. When Rey manages to will Luke Skywalker's lightsaber into her hand, Kylo says to himself, "It is you." What could that mean? Well, it definitely seems to indicate that Rey is someone Kylo is well aware of; could it be that Han and Leia hid his sister on Jakku after he turned to the Dark Side in order to protect her from him and Supreme Leader Snoke? What if Obi-Wan Kenobi or Luke Skywalker somehow have a descendent out there who Rey is connected to? Her connection to the Force make any one of those options a very real possibility, and Kylo acknowledging her power with a line like that does point to Episode VIII further exploring where she comes from and how exactly she's on the path to becoming such a powerful Jedi.
