1. Dredd
http://youtu.be/JqqgrUna28w Not only is Dredd the manliest movie of 2012, it's one of the best movies of the year. Trying and succeeding gloriously for a neo-80's throwback action movie (there's even a wonderfully understated RoboCop reference), Dredd is a never-ending deluge of bullets, blood and badass beatdowns. Though its plot seems strangely similar to the number four entry on this list, the two movies couldn't be more different. Dredd isn't interested in choreographed kung-fu or new wave action stylings. All it's interested in is shooting everything shootable and grimacing the whole time while it's going on. With an abysmally by-the-numbers Total Recall remake and the promise of an equally studio-mandated RoboCop reboot, Dredd delivers on old school action like neither of those movies could even dream about. Karl Urban makes Sly Stallone's 1995 misstep of the character an easily forgettable affair, and the performance by Lena Headey as the big boss Ma-Ma is a lesson in underplaying true menace. The January 8th Blu-ray street date can't come soon enough, as this is destined to be a cult classic that will be remembered for being one of the best comic book adaptations of the new decade. It also happens to be the manliest movie of 2012. Did we leave out some of your favorite man-movies of 2012? Whine about it down in the comments, you little girlie-man. I have to go and practice my grimace. Editor's Note: The attitude and demeanor present in this article is solely a work of fiction created by the author. Drew Dietsch is in no way as manly as his portrayal of himself in this list. He drinks Yoo-hoo and has never been in a single fist-fight. Please don't beat him up. He bruises easily. Thank you.
