8. Half The Life In The Universe Disappears

Very few moments in cinematic history would have the same profound level of effect as this, if it ever made it to the big screen. In the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, Thanos triggers the events that the story is based around by trying to impress Mistress Death by wiping out half of the sentient life in the universe - literally with the click of his fingers. Such is the power he wields with the titular item, he is literally the God of the universe and he has the power to will anything that he wishes to happen to actually happen. The move wipes out half of the universe's heroes and villains too, so it sees key members of the Avengers and other superhero groups simply vanish. Although Thanos won't be this powerful (we don't think anyway) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Infinity Gauntlet, the equivalent moment (where, perhaps, he makes a couple of key heroes simply cease to exist) will be amazing to witness in live action.
