9. The Kree-Skrull War (With Chitauri Instead Of Skrulls)
The Kree-Skrull War is a classic comic book storyline which saw the heroes of the Marvel universe getting caught up in an age-old battle between two long-warring alien species the Kree and the Skrulls. The likelihood of an exact depiction of this storyline occurring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is extremely slim, as the Skrulls dont actually exist in it due to rights issues (they belong to Fox), but the Chitauri were put in their places for the Avengers movie, in which they attacked Earth in the climatic Battle of New York scenes in the same way the Skrulls have done in the comics. While the Chitauri don't have the same shape-shifting powers as the Skrulls, there is still no reason to believe they couldn't have an epic war. The Chitauris commander the Other was actually killed by the Kree villain Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy (he twisted his head around 180 degrees by hitting it really hard with his warhammer), so the foundations have actually been laid for this potential conflict in future movies. In the comic book version of the storyline, the heroes, who include the Avengers and a number of characters not owned by Marvel Studios who would have to be replaced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, get involved inadvertently in the battle between the races and have to fight to prevent the Kree from devolving Earth in to a prehistoric wasteland to use as a venue for their war with the Skrulls.
