10 Marvel Cinematic Universe Easter Eggs That Led Nowhere
2. The Infinity Gauntlet In Thor
The Infinity Gauntlet is now very much a thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a cosmic artefact that's about to threaten it with destruction.
Back when Thor was released in 2011, it was nothing more than an Easter Egg, a piece of fan service hidden inside Odin's vault. At this stage of the MCU's life, Marvel probably had no idea it would get to make 15 more films and would need to introduce the real gauntlet down the line.
The glove in Asgard was never supposed to be a plot point, but from a narrative perspective, it was an easy fix. In Thor: Ragnarok, Hela confirmed it has a fake and gave the fans a good laugh.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Fiege even has a canon explanation for why there's a faux Infinity Gauntlet in Asgard's vault, telling /Film that Odin put it there to convince his people that they weren't in any danger from Thanos, a convenient way to dismiss an Easter egg that was never supposed to go anywhere.
