10 Marvel Comic Storylines That Need To Be Put On Film

2. The Death Of Captain America

Although we don€™t care much for Civil War, there was some good that came out of it. Ed Brubaker€™s run on Captain America will stand the test of time as one of the greatest runs of Cap comics ever. And it€™s a testament to Brubaker€™s skill that he was able to take a complete turd of a story like Civil War and use it to craft a truly excellent tale in Cap€™s solo title.

The end of Civil War saw Steve surrendering to the government. While being escorted to his trial, Steve was shot at by Crossbones, but it was Sharon Carter€”brainwashed by Doctor Faustus, who delivers the killing blow. While Stark and Black Widow hunt down Steve€™s killers, the Falcon follows his own leads and the Winter Soldier makes plans to kill Stark, blaming him for Steve€™s death.

When Bucky confronts Stark, Tony shows him a letter written by Steve before his death asking Tony to look out for Bucky and keep the legacy of Captain America alive. Tony then offers to make Bucky the new Captain America, and he agrees on the condition that he is allowed to remain independent of the Initiative.

What followed was then a story in which Bucky as the new Cap has to contend with the Red Skull using a puppet politician to try and win the Presidency and lead America into a police state.

Sebastian Stan€™s contract includes a number of films for Marvel, and if he takes over the Captain America role from Chris Evans, then that could account for those extra films€”both Cap solo films and Avengers movies.
