10 Marvel Comic Storylines That Need To Be Put On Film

3. The New Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr has already said that he can€™t play Iron Man forever. Tony Stark may be perpetually young, but Downey is unfortunately not. At some point, the actor will have to retire from the role that helped renew his career, even though many of us don€™t want to admit it. But Disney appears to want to keep the MCU going on past Downey, which means they€™ll either have to get rid of Iron Man or recast the role.

Or they could do both.

Tony Stark is not the only man to have stepped inside the Iron Man armor. On more than one occasion, Jim Rhodes has donned the armor and taken Tony€™s place as Iron Man, even serving as a member of the West Coast Avengers while doing so. In one of these instances, Tony lost his company to Obadiah Stane as well as everything else. He descended even deeper into his alcoholism and started living off the streets. Rhodes took over the Iron Man armor during this time and had a series of memorable adventures, fighting many of Tony€™s foes, including the Mandarin.

With Tony Stark being instrumental in the upcoming Civil War film, the fallout from that and Age of Ultron and Infinity War could be enough to weaken Stark to the point that he would be driven to alcoholism. Obadiah Stane can€™t be used since he was killed in the first Iron Man movie, but Stane does have a son€”Ezekiel.

The fourth Iron Man movie can be about Tony losing everything and turning over the armor to Rhodey before he disappears. This could then set up Rhodey as Iron Man for a few movies until a recast Tony returns to take back his company.
