10 Marvel Movie Mistakes DC Will Undoubtedly Repeat

4. Underwhelming Villains

Marvel have played it safe with villains so far and gone with the predictable foes of their respective heroes. Spider-Man gets the Green Goblin, Hulk gets Abomination, Ghost Rider gets Blackheart, Thor gets Loki, the X-Men get Magneto and the Fantastic Four get Doctor Doom and so forth. That's all well and good, but just once we'd like to see an unexpected villain in a comic book movie - after all, Marvel and DC have a huge catalogue of characters to choose from and some of the characters of lesser renown are just as interesting as those more well-known. Marvel also vastly under-power their villains or use villains who are no more powerful than the villains they're facing. Loki, Malekith, Doctor Doom and Blackheart, for example, were all terribly weak in comparison to their comic book counterparts and the likes of Abomination, Red Skull, Iron Monger and Winter Soldier were no more powerful than the heroes they were facing, which can make their threat seem minimal and boring. DC will inevitably do the same thing. They've already used Zod, who has exactly the same powers as Superman, and now they're using Lex Luthor - a mere human genius - in a movie with both Batman and Superman in it (Batman being just as much of a genius as Luthor and Superman being a superhuman). There's also the recent news that Black Adam (who will be played by the Rock) is going to be Shazam's opponent in his movie - Black Adam being a man with the exact same powers as Shazam. Until Darkseid's inevitable appearance in several years' time, expect DC's movie villains to be very underwhelming. On a related note...
