Gather round folks, because it’s time to learn why A-Ha’s hit song ‘Take on me’ has a deep emotional significance in its use in Deadpool 2 – a combination of words likely never to have been used before.

It’s strange for sure, but the use of a slower, more dramatic version of the song does seem to have a deeper meaning than it being a good song. The film revolves around Deadpool learning to care about people again after his wife’s tragic death, and making a family (of sorts) for himself. When you look at the lyrics, phrases like ‘slowly learning that life is okay’, or ‘it’s no better to be safe than sorry’ do completely reflect this, in a way too consistent to be accidental.

Learning to care about the people around you through an 80s hit classic is incredibly weird, but then again – do we really expect anything less from a Deadpool film?
