10 Massively Underrated 2000s Movie Performances
9. Keanu Reeves - Constantine
Much like Will Smith, Keanu Reeves is one of the most prolific and beloved actors in the business. As such, he’s got a string of huge movies under his belt. Among others, he’s starred as Neo in The Matrix trilogy, Ted Logan in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and John Wick in the John Wick trilogy. In short, his reputation as an action star precedes him.
Interestingly, though, there’s one part he played that absolutely encapsulated everything Reeves should be in a movie, but is all but forgotten today: John Constantine in 2005’s Constantine.
Clearly, if you want a fearless badass with a taste for good ol’ fashioned violence (named John), Reeves is the actor for you. This particular movie is based on DC Comics’ Hellblazer, casting Reeves as a man able to see the true forms of half-angels and half-demons. Consigned to Hell and desperate to find a way out of his predicament, he becomes embroiled in a plot by Lucifer’s son to take over the Earth.
Reeves plays this grim anti-hero to perfection, and it’s a shame he’s mostly known as Neo, John Wick or a walking, talking, beloved meme these days.
