10 MCU Actors Almost Cast As OTHER Marvel Movie Characters

4. Natalie Portman SHOULD Have Been Jubilee

The Role She Almost Had...

While she was ultimately convinced to return to the MCU for a tiny voice recording role in Avengers: Endgame, it's no real surprise that Natalie Portman might feel rather aggrieved by her Marvel movie history. Not only was her character badly under-served in her two Thor appearances (she does a little better in The Avengers), but she also saw her recommendation of Patty Jenkins directing The Dark World explode in her face.

Imagine how different things could have been if she'd been cast in the X-Men franchise instead, as had initially been the plan.

An early draft of X-Men featured Jubilee - a favourite from the 1990s animated show - and while her casting would have been another case of Hollywood white-washing a character, Portman was apparently the only candidate to play her. So integral was she to the role that Jubilee was simply cut when Portman passed and Rogue's role was dialled up to take over her scenes.
