Who would have thought that the best villain (and anti-hero) in the MCU was almost the hero?

As was revealed thanks to an entertaining screentest, Tom Hiddleston was one of the actors who initially auditioned for the role of the God of Thunder, complete with long blonde hair. Mercifully, Kenneth Branagh was obviously looking for a larger actor and cast the hulking Chris Hemsworth instead.

But there was obviously something about Hiddleston's audition that caught his eye, because Branagh instead gave him the opportunity to dye his hair black and play Loki instead. What an inspired decision that proved to be!
