10 MCU Characters Fans Love To Hate
5. Ronan The Accuser
Back to the world of poorly executed antagonists we go now, and to a force who once harnessed the power of an Infinity Stone. That still couldn't stop him from becoming a stick to beat an otherwise memorable Phase 2 MCU outing with, though.
Acting as the thrown together bunch of misfits' grand obstacle to overcome in that first Guardians of the Galaxy outing, Ronan the Accuser sadly didn't get off to the best of starts when it was initially revealed that he was acting as one of Thanos' latest supervisors of sorts. And not even his eventual betrayal of The Mad Titan could add a sizeable layer of intrigue to this flailing Kree warlord as many were left scratching their heads at just how well the 2014 feature worked with such a vanilla villain bumping up against our anti-heroes.
His motivations - wanting to start a war due to being p*ssed that his people had signed a peace treaty with the enemy - could've been compelling had they been fleshed out a touch. But not even a second appearance in MCU prequel Captain Marvel, one which saw him flee from the titular explosive protector, could save Ronan from being labelled as a mockable afterthought until proven otherwise.
