10 MCU Concept Art Designs Better Than What We Got

8. Less Fiery Surtur

Surtur, the apocalyptic demon who laid waste to Asgard in Thor: Ragnarok, was almost less fiery in appearance, as seen in a concept illustration posted on Instagram by Marvel Studios senior artist Jackson Sze.

This alternate version of the Muspelheim ruler is more chilling than the CGI-heavy version in the movie, his skeletal facial features resembling the Grim Reaper.

His body is made up of twisted and forged metal and his overall appearance is more biblical than the fiery monstrosity that destroyed Thor's homeworld, though from the look of things, he can still conjure his fires of wrath.

The incarnation of Surtur that wound up in Ragnarok is closer to the comics books, but this concept version would have been a better fit for the fantasy-rich Thor movies, and a whole lot scarier to boot.
